Comprehensive Eye Exams

A comprehensive exam is a thorough assessment of vision and eye health, including refractive tests to determine a glasses prescription as well as dilation to examine the inside structures of the eye.

Contact Lens Exams

Contact lens exams can be preformed during a comprehensive exam or on their own. The contact lens prescription and the fit on the eye will be evaluated to ensure the best vision and comfort.

Diabetic Eye Exams

Diabetic patients are recommended to have yearly dilated eye exams to evaluate for the presence of diabetic retinopathy.

Emergency Eye Care

Same day visits are available for infections, flashes and floaters, sudden loss of vision, foreign body removal, etc.

Laser Eye Procedures

Laser peripheral iridotomy for narrow angles, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) for glaucoma, and YAG capsulotomy for scar tissue on cataract implants.

Optomap Retinal Imaging

Optomap imaging gives a 360° panoramic image of the inside of the eye and may alleviate the need for dilation. These images help the doctor assess and track the health of your eyes. This is not covered by insurance. The procedure cost is $35.00. Learn More here https://www.optos.com/blog/2022/june/what-is-optos-retinal-imaging/

All comprehensive/routine eye exams receive the optomap form.

1)Is this required? What is it?
“Our providers prefer to perform this test once per year.”
2) Does my insurance cover this?
there is usually an out of pocket fee of $35.”
3) Is this new? Why wasn’t this a fee before?
“This is a newer technology that allows our providers to give a more comprehensive eye exam by helping see more of the health of the back of your eye.”

Optical Coherence Tomography

OCT is an ultrasound of the eye which allows the doctor to analyze the anatomy of the retina and optic nerve. It is used to aid in the diagnosis of ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Visual Field testing

A helpful diagnostic tool that evaluates a patients entire vision, both straight ahead and to the sides. It aides in the diagnosis of ocular conditions such as glaucoma and neurological conditions.

RETeval®

A Retina Evaluation uses a handheld device called the RETeval® to measure how well your retina responds to light using a test called electroretinography (ERG). This quick, comfortable test helps detect early signs of retinal conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, or inherited retinal diseases. By placing gentle adhesive sensor strips below your eyes, your doctor can analyze the speed and strength of your retina’s electrical response to light. Results are instantly compared to a healthy baseline, helping guide diagnosis and treatment decisions.

LASER PERIPHERAL IRIDOTOMY

LASER PERIPHERAL IRIDOTOMY is most often performed to prevent angle closure, a condition that leads to rapid, painful, and irreversible vision loss from extremely high eye pressure. During the procedure, the ophthalmologist uses a laser to create a small hole in the iris to open up the anatomical angle of the eye. This allows the fluid in the eye to flow normally, maintaining a healthy eye pressure.

SELECTIVE LASER TRABECULOPLASTY

SELECTIVE LASER TRABECULOPLASTY is performed to lower eye pressure in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. During the procedure, the ophthalmologist lasers the tissue in the eye that is responsible for draining the fluid in the eye. This enhances the ability of that tissue to pass fluid, resulting in lower eye pressure.

LASER CAPSULOTOMY

LASER CAPSULOTOMY is performed after cataract surgery to “clean” the lens implant. Scar tissue often forms on the lens implant weeks to years after cataract surgery and results in blurred vision. During the capsulotomy procedure, the ophthalmologist uses the laser to remove the scar tissue.
